My Ellis Piano colleagues and I were waiting on the arrival of Dr. Henry Panion, Professor of Music and Director of the Music Technology program at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I heard the music of Stevie Wonder playing in the background on one of our player pianos. This caught my attention because, number one, I love Stevie Wonder, and, number two, Dr. Panion is more commonly known for his longtime role as Stevie Wonder’s conductor and arranger!
I approached David Ellis and asked, “Do you have Stevie Wonder playing on purpose since Dr. Panion is coming?” David thought for a minute and said, “I hadn’t even noticed . . . no, we didn’t do that on purpose.” I replied, “Well, I guess it was divinely orchestrated then!” (No pun intended!)
Some things God just does.
