I sat down recently on the job at Ellis Piano and played a Yamaha DCF6. I thought, Wow! This is the best Yamaha I have ever played! It was a flawless instrument and I never dreamed that eventually it would be played by none other than the legendary David Foster!
David Foster performed with his wife, Katharine McPhee, a former American Idol runner-up, at Auburn University's remarkable new Gogue Performing Arts Center this past Sunday, and Ellis Piano provided them with this very Yamaha!
Grammy-Winner David Foster is considered to be one of the most successful composer/arranger/record producers in history. Some of the hit songs and artists he has been affiliated with include "Look What You've Done to Me" by Boz Scaggs, "After the Love Has Gone" by Earth, Wind & Fire, "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" & "You're the Inspiration" by Chicago, "The Glory of Love" by Peter Ctera, and many others. He has produced legends such as Michael Jackson, Air Supply, Madonna, Celine Dion, Josh Groban & Michael Buble.
My personal Foster favorite is the score from the movie soundtrack "St. Elmo's Fire." I have often wished and even prayed that I could compose something as beautiful as the iconic "Love Theme" from that movie. Take a listen if you have forgotten what it sounds like.
