To Tell or Not To Tell - Waiting On God's Timing

To tell or not to tell – that was the question I had been asking myself for several weeks. Someone I was concerned about was having some serious trouble. All I had to go on were a few observations and a strong gut feeling; I had no real evidence to back up my opinion. It could cause a lot of grief for the person involved if I was correct about my hunch.

As I stood in front of the computer at Ellis Piano where I was working, downloading a music soundtrack for a customer, I prayed, Dear Lord, I am so tired of worrying about this situation. Should I talk to someone about my thoughts or keep them to myself? More importantly, should I tell the person involved what I think is going on? Please, tell me what I should do.

Suddenly, the computer screen lit up! I looked down and saw flashing across the screen NOT the song title I was downloading for the customer, but another song title by Shania Twain: “No One Needs to Know.” I have no idea what caused that title to mysteriously appear on the screen. I just knew that, though it was not the title that was intended for the customer I was working with, it was definitely the title that was intended for me because, instantly, the “peace that passes all understanding” came over me. I was positive that God had answered my prayer, and to make an even bigger impact, he answered it through not only my favorite medium - music, but also my favorite pop recording artist – Shania! More specifically, the catch line repeated several times in that song says, “No one needs to know RIGHT NOW.” It was clear that it was not meant for me to say anything to anyone about my suspicions at that time, so I remained silent.

Finally, several months later, I was led to share my information with the person involved. That person used the information to help solve a puzzle and serious problem that had been ongoing for some time. My gut feeling turned out to be exactly accurate, but I had to wait on God’s perfect timing before I disclosed it.

The TWO morals of this story are:

1 - PRAY about everything! God hears and answers.

2 - WAIT on the Lord! Timing is everything; the right information at the wrong time is wrong and can have the opposite effect of what is intended.

Pray and wait, so says the Lord our God.
